My New Toy

 

I purchased my first macbook about six years ago.  It has been an amazing computer but doesn't have the power to run the recording software I would like to use.  After much debate I decided to purchase a new macbook pro.  

I checked the status of my package daily impatiently awaiting its arrival.  I thought my new toy would ship from Apple's warehouse in San Bernadino, but since I customized my order they had to build and ship it from China!!  This worried me a bit because I work for a international package company and I have seen some pretty mangled up packages traveling overseas. 

It took about a week for it to arrive and I could barely contain my excitement.  I felt like a little kid at Christmas opening the rectangular box which contained my new toy.  The Mac was securely intact with no scratches or bruises lol.

To my surprise the computer was ready to go when I powered it up.  There was no installation process at all which made me very happy.  Just one more reason why I love Macs.

So here I am on day three with my new toy getting it prepped and ready for some recording.  Can't wait to share some of the new songs I have been writing.  I should have one or two of them up in a couple weeks or sooner!

Olive, Jack, and Myself enjoying DCFC'S "Codes and Keys"

Enjoyed a beautiful Thursday morning with my lovely Olive listening to the new "Codes and Keys" album by Death Cab for Cutie.  The album will not be released until May 31 but you can listen to it in its entirety HERE =).  So grab a cup of Joe and let your ears be delighted to hear some refreshing new music!

Instructions do serve a purpose!

So for the past two years I have been using an M-audio fast track ultra to record my songs.  I have always felt like it didn't have enough "kick" to effectively record my instruments at a nice volume level.  For a while I thought that it was the recording software I was using, which in part it was. Today I spent about an hour researching information about my interface and came across a discussion board that had the answer.  They said that I needed to pull the volume knob out and it would turn on a preamp to increase the signal!!  They also mentioned that if I read the manual it would have told me the same thing.   So it just goes to show that it does benefit one to READ THE MANUAL LOL!!! Just thought I would share that with you.

Mothers take a bow

Give it up for all the mothers out there! I know we cant thank you enough for all the pain you endured to bring us life.  we are sincerely grateful. 

Fun night at Cafe Libertalia.

My wife and I checked out a new coffee shop venue in Hillcrest yesterday.  It was small but had a pleasant vibe.  Celia St Croix started off the night with a few originals, followed by some other talented artists.  I decided to play a couple of my own.  Here's a quick vid of one of the songs played entitled,"The Winter Breeze".
